Three arrested in connection with Columbia shooting investigation

Three men wanted in connection with a Columbia shooting were arrested after they turned themselves in to investigators Monday, officials say.

Anthony Arelius Spencer, 25, Ramell Vashon Spencer, 22, and Marcus Skyler Hickson, 28, were arrested and charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said in a statement released Monday.

The suspects are accused of shooting at a man they had argued with in an incident that took place outside of Gonzales Gardens Apartments on April 30, Holbrook said. The men allegedly fired multiple times at the victim as he tried to run to safety. The victim was struck in the arm, then taken to a local hospital where he was released a short time later.

Investigators believe the suspects and the victim are friends, and that the shooting was an isolated incident, Holbrook said. All three were taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
