UPDATE: Newberry police looking for second man after shots were fired into car with children inside
Newberry police said Wednesday they are now looking for a second man involved in an altercation last Friday that escalated into shots being fired into a car where children were sitting.
Maurice Vandell Bailey, who faces four counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during commission of a violent crime, is considered armed and dangerous, Newberry police said in a news release.
The other suspect, Rodney Trevor Henderson turned himself in to police on Tuesday.
EARLIER REPORTING:
Police were dispatched on a shots-fired call to the 800 block of Taylor Street between Vincent and Drayton streets just before 3 p.m. When officers arrived, they met with the victim who said he and Rodney Trevor Henderson got into an altercation. Henderson then allegedly pulled out a gun and began shooting into the car, which was occupied by the victim, his girlfriend and two children.
Newberry City Police Department officials said Henderson has been charged with four counts of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime in connection with the incident.
Officials said Henderson is to be considered armed and dangerous. If anyone has information of his whereabouts they are urged to call the Newberry City Police Department at (803) 321-1010.
