Morning shooting leaves one wounded, Columbia police searching for suspect

Columbia police are investigating a Wednesday morning shooting that left one man injured, and officers searching for a suspect who is responsible.

Officers responded to a residence in the 2100 block of Barhamville Road and Slighs Avenue shortly after 8 a.m. after receiving a shots fired call. When officers arrived, they located one male victim who had been wounded from the shooting. Emergency Medical Services transported the victim to a local hospital to receive treatment.

Investigators are currently working to determine the motive for the shooting and to determine if the shooting was an isolated incident or a random act of violence.
