Richland County sheriff’s deputies are searching for several suspects involved in a late night shooting Tuesday that left one man wounded, according to department officials.
Sgt. Kevin Lawrence, a department spokesman, said sheriff’s deputies responded to a shots-fired call at around 10 p.m. at a residence located in the 200 block of Forestwood Drive near Two Notch Road. When deputies arrived the located several shell casings in the driveway of the residence.
Upon further investigation they met with a witness who stated she saw several black male suspects in front of the incident location as she came home from work. Several minutes later she heard several gunshots and observed a white car and gold SUV leave the area at a high rate of speed.
As investigators continued to look for clues, they were notified that a victim had checked himself in to a local hospital with gunshot wounds to his lower body, according to Lawrence. When deputies met with the victim, he told them that he was at the residence drinking with friends when the suspects approached him and said, “You already know what time it is.”
