Lexington motorcyclist killed early Wednesday morning in hit and run, suspect charged

LEXINGTON COUNTY, SC The Lexington County coroner’s office has identified the motorcyclist killed around 5:30am Wednesday in a hit and run as John Edward Seymour, III.

The 38-year-old resident of Lexington was pronounced dead on the scene at West Main Street and Barr Road. An autopsy by the Lexington County coroner’s office concluded that Seymour died as a result of blunt force trauma.

Nicholas Slater Shealy, 25, was charged with failure to yield right of way on a left-hand turn, leaving the scene of an accident, and simple possession of marijuana, Cpl David Jones of the South Carolina Highway Patrol said.

No other details of the accident , which remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol and Lexington County coroner’s office, were released.

Shealy was being held at the Lexington County Detention Center Wednesday afternoon.
