Sumter police looking for suspects in 2 separate home break-ins

Sumter police are investigating two separate home break-ins that occurred within two hours of each other Wednesday morning.

The first incident happened around 10:15 a.m. Wednesday morning on Bon View Drive, according to department spokeswoman Tonyia McGirt. The suspect is accused of breaking into the home through a rear door.

Reports indicate the man pointed a firearm at the person inside before fleeing, McGirt said.

The second incident happened just before noon Wednesday at a home on Highland Avenue, McGirt said. The suspect broke into the home through a rear door.

No one was injured in either incident, and no items were reported stolen, McGirt said.
