A second man was arrested after an all-day manhunt when deputies stopped a car spotted in the area of a series of Chapin car break-ins, according to a Richland County Sheriff’s Department statement.

Christian Lawrence Brown, 21, was arrested Thursday afternoon after he initially ran from deputies who stopped him, according to the statement.

The man who deputies believe to be his accomplice was arrested about 12 hours earlier, shortly after the case began. Junior Jacinthe, 21, was charged in connection with the break-ins and could be associated with other crimes in Lexington, Chapin and Irmo.

At about 6:30 a.m. Thursday, a deputy tried to stop the car Brown and Jacinthe were using, according to the statement. The vehicle was involved in a series of 20 car break-ins in the Portrait Hill Drive area in Chapin.

Jacinthe and Brown ran from the deputy, spawning a nearly 12-hour manhunt, in which deputies used a helicopter and K-9s to track down Brown. At about noon, the deputies discontinued their search of the area and began investigating other leads, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department.
