Lexington County deputy behind bars after domestic violence charge, department says

A Lexington County Sheriff’s Department deputy was fired after being charged with domestic violence, according to a statement from the department.

Timothy Lane Padgett, 29, was charged after a physical altercation with his wife Sunday night, according to the statement.

His wife was injured in her arm and eye, according to the statement. The case was investigated by the S.C. Law Enforcement Division, which arrested the former deputy.

Padgett no longer is employed by the sheriff’s department.

The former deputy, who worked in the Lexington County Detention Center, is being held in custody pending a medical evaluation, according to the statement. His bond was set at $5,000.

SLED is still investigating the case.
