Columbia man driving moped dies after collision

A Columbia man died after being involved in a fatal moped accident, according to a statement from the Richland County Coroner’s office.

Nathan Lynell Turner, 38, died of blunt force trauma to the torso after the Tuesday night accident.

Turner was driving a moped near the intersection of Wilkes Road and Sampson Circle in Columbia at about 10 p.m. when he was involved in a collision with another vehicle, according to the statement.

He was taken to Palmetto Health Richland where he later died of his wounds at about 11 p.m., according to the statement.

The crash is being investigated by the Columbia Police Department.
