Suspect in Midlands auto business slaying captured in Florida
The suspect in a fatal shooting at a Midlands auto business last weekend has been arrested in Florida.
Demetrius Alexander Brown was apprehended just before 11 p.m. Wednesday in Jacksonville, the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said in a release. Details about his capture were not immediately available.
Brown faces charges in the shooting death of 34-year-old Sharmine Pack at an auto business on Saturday, authorities have said. Sheriff Anthony Dennis said during a news conference Monday that Brown, who has convictions for financial crimes and burglary, shot Pack during an argument that involved fraud over the purchase of a car.
Brown will have an extradition hearing Thursday to determine whether or not he will return to South Carolina willingly, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
