SC robbers threatened to shoot clerk over cash, cigarettes, Columbia police say
Columbia police officers are looking for two men after a series of armed robberies at local gas stations, according to a police statement.
The latest robbery happened at the Li’l Cricket gas station on Main Street Wednesday, where the men robbed a clerk at gunpoint, according to the statement.
The men walked in the gas station before 10:30 p.m. with a gun and demanded money and cigarettes, according to the statement. One of the men, who was wearing a black shirt, told the clerk he would shoot if she didn’t hand over the cash.
No one was injured during the robbery.
On Aug. 11, another gas station was robbed. Burglars stood up the Gaz-Bah gas station on West Beltline Boulevard at about 11:30 a.m., according to the statement.
Police are unsure if the crimes or the suspects are connected, according to the statement.
Columbia police are looking in to similar armed robberies with the Forest Acres Police Department and the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, according to the statement.
