He killed a man in the Midlands — and was found hiding nearly 800 miles away, cops say
A man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting earlier this month was found hiding nearly 800 miles away in New England, officials said Tuesday.
Andrew Maxswane Evins, 23, was taken into custody by authorities at a Connecticut motel Tuesday morning, the U.S. Marshals Service said in a release Tuesday afternoon.
Evins is suspected in the shooting death of 23-year-old Jervaughn McKins in the Eutawville area of Orangeburg County on Aug. 12, according to the release. Investigators learned that Evins had fled to Connecticut.
Marshals learned that Evins may be hiding in the Stratford area, and he was found hiding out at a Rodeway Inn, the release states.
Evins will be charged as a fugitive of justice and is awaiting extradition back to Orangeburg County.
