Gaston teen arrested after stabbing sleeping family member, Lexington deputies say

A Gaston teen was arrested after he tried to stab a family member while he slept, according to a statement from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Jose Coria Emeterio, 19, was charged with attempted murder, possessing a weapon during a violent crime and car theft, according to the statement.

While the family member was sleeping in their home on Swansea Road, Emeterio got a knife, according to the statement.

He began to “slash the victim multiple times,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said in the statement.

Emeterio then stole a car and drove away from the home, according to the statement. The man was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment, and is expected to make a full recovery.

The teen was arrested and taken to the Lexington County Detention Center.
