Thieves steal guns, pills from cars in six Lexington neighborhoods, police say
Lexington police are seeking three suspects after they say two men and a woman broke into or tampered with more than 50 cars, according to a police department statement.
The trio stole items ranging from handguns and hunting rifles to prescription pills and wallets from cars parking in six Lexington neighborhoods, according to the statement.
About 50 cars were involved during the early morning spree Sunday, according to the statement. The trio stole several handguns, a hunting rifle, credit cards, sunglasses, purses, wallets, prescription pills and phones from unlocked cars.
The cars were located in the Coventry, Mallard Lakes, Gibson Forest East, Willowbrooke, Westbrook and Martin’s Grove neighborhoods, according to the statement.
Shortly after the rash of break-ins, the group used stolen credit cards to buy things at a Walmart in Columbia, according to the statement. There, they were caught on camera.
The trio are thought to be in their late teens or early 20s, according to the statement. They were last seen driving a gray sedan with a sun roof.
