Two bystanders shot after argument in Lexington County

Lexington County deputies responded late Thursday night to a shooting not far from West Columbia, according to a tweet from the sheriff’s department.

The incident occurred off of Riverbend Drive at about 9:30 p.m., according to the tweet.

According to the sheriff’s department, an unidentified person was in an argument when he or she opened fire. Two bystanders, who weren’t involved in the dispute, were hit.

The bystanders were treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to a statement from the sheriff’s department.

Deputies will be increasing patrol in those areas, according to the statement. The incident is still under investigation.
