16-year-old in critical condition after Richland County shooting
A 16-year-old boy is in critical condition after a Tuesday night shooting in Richland County, according to authorities.
The shooting happened around 10 p.m. on the 2100 block of Apple Valley Road, Capt. Maria Yturria said Wednesday morning. That’s just off Broad River Road, not far from Columbia High School.
Deputies found a 16-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the upper body, Yturria said.
The boy was taken to Palmetto Health Richland hospital, where he was in critical condition Wednesday morning, Yturria said.
There was no immediate word on what prompted the shooting, or on any possible suspects.
