Shots fired from carjacked pickup near Columbia

The Richland County Sheriff's Department is investigating shots fired by suspects in a black Toyota pickup that was involved in a carjacking.

The pickup drove up to a home on Carlton Drive off Two Notch Road at about midnight Sunday.

Friends inside the truck asked a juvenile at the home if he wanted to join them for a ride, but the juvenile's mother told him no, the department said.

The friends left firing multiple shots, the department said, and deputies found several shell casings nearby.

No other details were released. Information about the carjacking was not available Sunday.
