Kershaw County deputies and the bloodhound tracking team apprehended a fugitive hiding in a creek Saturday afternoon.

Freddie Kenneth Davis, 36, of Camden was arrested around 1:15 p.m. Saturday after deputies received information that Davis was wanted by the S.C. Department of Probation, Parole and Pardon, according to Sheriff Jim Matthews.

Davis, who was wanted for probation violation, was staying at a home in East Camden, Matthews said.

Deputies later located Davis standing inside of Spin City in East Camden, Matthews said. Davis fled and led deputies on a foot chase into the Little Pine Tree Creek.

Deputies lost sight of Davis and called on the bloodhound tracking team for assistance, Matthews said. The bloodhounds located Davis hiding in the creek and deputies took him into custody.

Davis is being held at the Kershaw County Detention Center with a hold placed on him by probation, parole and pardon, Matthews said.
