A 5-month-old died and her mother is behind bars, Lexington County Sheriff says

A woman is behind bars following the death of her 5-month-old daughter, according to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department’s Twitter feed.

Early Sunday, the sheriff’s department tweeted there was a “death investigation” in the Gaston area of Lexington County, and deputies were at a residence in the 200 block of Meadowfield Road.

By evening, the sheriff’s department tweeted that Kaitlynn Busby was being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.

The 23-year-old is expected to be charged with “homicide by child abuse in connection to the death of her infant,” the sheriff’s department posted on Twitter.

Kyzer Busby was identified as the “deceased baby” by Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher, according to the sheriff department’s tweet.

Kaitlynn Busby will appear in court on Monday for a bond hearing, where she is “also expected to face drug-related charges,” the sheriff’s department tweeted.
