A 19-year-old South Carolina man could spend the rest of his life in prison if convicted on charges related to a Christmas Day home invasion.

Casey Aaron Prince, 19, of Liberty, is charged with two counts of attempted murder and one count each of first-degree burglary and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, according to warrants released Monday by the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

The violent nighttime burglary happened Christmas Day at a home on Appaloosa Drive, the sheriff’s office said in a release. Deputies say Prince entered the home and began shooting a gun, hitting two people with gunfire.

Prince was injured when other residents in the home subdued him, the sheriff’s office said. He has since been released from the hospital.

Investigators say the incident stemmed from an argument earlier in the day but did not provide details.

Attempted murder carries a maximum sentence of 30 years, under South Carolina law. First-degree burglary carries up to life in prison. Possession of a weapon during a violent crime carries five years in prison.
