A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run in Lexington County late Saturday, and troopers need help locating the driver.

It happened between 9 and 10 p.m. on Nazareth Road near Wando Circle, in the Red Bank area, according to Lance Cpl. Matt Southern of the S.C. Highway Patrol.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the pedestrian as 21-year-old Davontaye Laquan Radell Washington.

Washington was walking south on Nazareth Road when they were hit by the vehicle, which also was traveling south, Southern said. The vehicle then drove away.

Washington died at the scene, Fisher said.

Troopers are searching for a Chevrolet Colorado or GMC Canyon pickup between the years of 2004 and 2012. The color is unknown but troopers say the truck may have damage to its right front end.

Anyone with information on the incident or the whereabouts of the truck involved is asked to call the Highway Patrol at 1-800-768-1501 or 803-896-9621.
