Man killed in domestic-related shooting, Columbia police say

A fatal domestic-related shooting occurred Saturday morning at an apartment complex, according to Columbia Police Department.

The alleged shooting happened around 10 a.m. outside a North Pointe Estates apartment, which is located in North Columbia just south of the James Clyburn Pedestrian bridge on S.C. 277.

A man was found with an upper body gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital where he died, police said.

CPD said its investigators “are working promising leads in the case.”

In August, The State wrote about North Pointe Estates’ Ripplemeyer Avenue and how it’s Columbia’s most violent block.

From 2014 to 2016 the neighborhood saw 38 assaults, 2 murders, 12 robberies, and 6 sexual assaults.
