Suspect who opened fire in crowded nightclub charged in two other shootings, SC cops say
The South Carolina man who opened fire at a crowded nightclub over the weekend is facing additional criminal charges, including nine counts of attempted murder, for two unrelated January shootings, the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office said Tuesday in a news release.
Dajour Maurice Hall has been charged with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon for the shooting at Orangeburg’s Club Atlantis on Sunday, according to the news release.
The 26-year-old Bowman man has also been charged with nine counts of attempted murder, two counts of possession of a weapon during a violent crime, two counts of possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, two counts of malicious injury to personal property, and one count of firing into a dwelling by the Bowman Police Department for two Jan. 5 shootings, per the news release.
“This is a very dangerous individual who has shown no regard for life whatsoever,” Orangeburg Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in the news release. “The streets of this county are much safer tonight as a result of several agencies reacting quickly in response to shots being fired inside a crowded night club.”
After a 911 call was made about a man with a gun inside the club Sunday, multiple law enforcement officers responded to the scene just before 4 a.m. and “heard shots being fired as club-goers fled the area,” according to the news release.
A high-speed car chase followed, and after attempting to run away from the vehicle on foot, the gunman was located behind a strip mall by a K9 unit, the sheriff’s office said in the news release.
One man was shot several times in the nightclub shooting and is being treated at an area hospital, per the news release.
Prior to Sunday’s shooting, Bowman police were searching for Hall, who is also accused of opening fire on multiple people, and shooting at a home where a 3-year-old child and other kids lived, the sheriff’s office said in the news release.
A judge denied Hall bond, and he responded with “an outburst of profanity,” and was removed from the court, per the news release.
