Search underway for woman who escaped mental institution, SC cops say

A search is underway for a woman who escaped a South Carolina mental health institution Wednesday, according to a news release from the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office.

Bloodhounds and a tracking team are assisting deputies in the search for Miriam Elizabeth Miller, the sheriff’s office said in the news release.

The 22-year-old who “suffer(s) from some type of medical condition” escaped from the Carolina Center for Behavioral Health around 2 p.m., per the news release.

The sheriff’s office described Miller as a 5-foot-8, 140-pound white female with brown hair, who “was last seen wearing a red and brown jacket with black leggings and green socks,” according to the news release.

Anyone who sees Miller is asked to call 911, the sheriff’s office requested in the news release.

According to its website, the Carolina Center for Behavioral Health offers both inpatient and outpatient treatment for adolescents, adults and seniors at its facility in Greer.
