A baby was found inside a home Monday where a man and woman were fatally shot, according to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Deputies were responding to call about a welfare check around 8:30 p.m. at a residence in the 200 block of Clarion Road, the sheriff’s department said. That is located near the intersection of Lake Murray Boulevard and Broad River Road.

Bodies of a man and woman were found at the residence, according to the sheriff’s department.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said both victims “had been shot in the upper body,” and were pronounced dead at the scene.

The baby is currently “in the care of family,” according to the sheriff’s department.

There is no word on what led to the shooting, or how many suspects were involved or if any have been arrested.
