2 men killed in Columbia apartment complex shooting

Two men were killed in a shooting at an apartment complex in northeast Columbia on Thursday morning.

Details are limited, but the shooting happened just after 9 a.m. at Willow Run Apartments on the 500 block of Alcott Drive, the Columbia Police Department said on Twitter. That’s just off U.S. 321 near Interstate 20.

Richland County Coroner Gary Watts said his office is involved in the investigation.

Police say both male victims have died.

Antonio Vashon Barnes, 24, was charged with two counts of murder, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, according to the Columbia Police Department’s news release.

The identities of the deceased will be released by the coroner’s office after the next of kin is notified.
