Deputies find more than 120 lbs of marijuana in home near Richland elementary, police say

A Midlands man was arrested after he was allegedly caught trafficking more than 100 pounds of marijuana while out on bond, according to a statement from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Dominick Maurice Booker, 28, was wearing a tracking device when he was arrested, which was part a condition of his bond from a Kershaw County incident, according to the statement.

Booker was arrested Tuesday by Richland County narcotics agents after they searched his home on Hardwood Drive, according to the statement. During the search, they found more than 121 pounds of marijuana and a pistol.

Hardwood Drive is located near Killian Elementary School.

He was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

In Kershaw County, Booker is facing multiple charges of driving under the influence, which left at least one person dead.

Booker was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
