Man wanted after high-speed chase across Columbia-area

After a high speed chase across Irmo that ended near downtown Columbia, police are searching for a man, according to a statement from the Irmo Police Department.

The chase started Friday at about 10:30 a.m. after an Irmo officer conducted a traffic stop near Broad River Road and Interstate 26, according to the statement.

The car, which had an equipment violation, was driven by Rasaun M. Hastie, 22, according to the statement. While the officer was speaking to Hastie, he took off.

Officers gave chase, following Hastie to downtown Columbia, where the chase ended, according to the statement.

Police are still looking for Hastie on a warrant for failure to stop for blue lights.

Officers are asking anyone who may know Hastie’s whereabouts to contact the police department or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.
