Food service employee allegedly had gun in car at Lexington County school, deputies say

A food service employee was arrested after authorities say he had a gun on school grounds, according to a statement from the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department.

Tevin Trapp, 25, was charged with simple possession of marijuana and carrying a weapon on school grounds, according to the statement.

Trapp was an employee for a food service vendor at Gray Collegiate Academy, according to the statement. He was inside the school working in the cafeteria when a deputy patrolling the campus allegedly smelled marijuana in his car.

The school resource officer spoke to Trapp, who said he smoked in the car, according to the statement. He then got a blunt from the front console.

Trapp also told the officer there was a handgun in the car’s center console, according to the statement. The officer found more marijuana stored alongside the loaded gun.

The officer arrested Trapp and took him to the Lexington County Detention Center, according to the statement.
