International fugitive nabbed in Richland County
RICHLAND COUNTY, SC Checking out a complaint about illegal drug activity, Richland County drug agents nabbed an international fugitive deported twice from the US and wanted in Mexico on “multiple murder charges.”
Juan Pablo Guzman-Juarez, 24, was taken into custody on Sparkleberry Lane near Clemson Road on Wednesday, Sheriff Leon Lott said in a news release.
Sheriffs department drug agents were staking out the area when they saw Guzman-Juarez and an unknown suspect engage in suspicious activity in a vehicle. When agents approached the vehicle, the unknown suspect fled and Guzman-Juarez tried to flee but was captured, Lott said. Agents allegedly found 1/2 pound bag of marijuana and 23 grams of cocaine inside the vehicle during a search.
Guzman-Juarez has been deported from the US twice before and is wanted in Mexico on murder and weapons charges a records check found, Lott said.
Charged with trafficking cocaine and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute, Guzman-Juarez was being held at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center Friday afternoon.
