Police are working to determine what led up to the death of a man whose body was found in a car at a Columbia McDonald’s.

The body was found just before 10 p.m. Monday in a car at the McDonald’s on the 7500 block of Garners Ferry Road, according to Lt. Paul Blendowski of the Columbia Police Department.

There were no obvious signs of trauma, Blendowski said. The Richland County Coroner’s Office is assisting in the investigation and will determine the man’s identity and cause of death.

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect believed to be involved in an armed robbery on Dec. 2 at the McDonald's on Decker Boulevard.
