Two caught on surveillance during Sumter robbery sought by sheriff’s office
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the community’s help in identifying two men believed to be responsible for the theft of more than $23,000 in lawn care equipment from an area business over the weekend.
The two men were spotted on surveillance cameras entering Palmetto Lawn Care, at 336 Vesper Court, in Sumter around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, sheriff’s department spokesman Braden Bunch said in a statement released Monday.
The suspects took a flatbed trailer loaded with two riding lawnmowers, as well as various yard tools from the business. The suspects were seen leaving the business at 2:15 a.m. Saturday, Bunch said.
Both suspects are described as black males, between 5 feet 8 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall, weighing around 200 pounds. One of the suspects was wearing a skull cap, dark shirt and dark pants. He also has a trimmed mustache and beard, as well as tattoos covering his right forearm. The other suspect is bald, has a trimmed beard and was wearing a dark shirt and dark pants.
A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved with the robbery. Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to call the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office at (803) 436-2000 or Crimestoppers at (803) 436-2718.
