Man sentenced in death of 22-year-old Lexington County father

A man was sentenced to 40 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to killing a 22-year-old acquaintance from Lexington County to steal his car, according to a statement from the Eleventh Circuit Solicitor’s office.

Charlie Don Robinson pleaded guilty to murder Tuesday in the killing of Robert William All, Jr., which happened on July 11, 2018, according to the statement.

Robinson has prior convictions, including on charges of manufacturing and distributing methamphetamine and a weapons charge.

On the day of the incident, Robinson called All to get a ride, and the pair drove to the Toole Smith Road area of Swansea, according to the statement. Robinson allegedly wanted to steal the new Nissan Altima that All borrowed from a friend.

Robinson allegedly pulled a gun and ordered All to get out of the car, hitting him in the back of the head, according to the statement. Robinson then allegedly shot All multiple times in the back and the head.

After the shooting, Robinson took All’s keys, phone and wallet before leaving, according to the statement. Local residents called 911 after hearing shots and finding All’s body.

While investigating, deputies saw the car and gave chase, according to the statement. Robinson abandoned the car and ran off. Deputies arrested Robinson July 13.

All was the father of a 4-year-old boy, according to the statement. The boy’s mother showed up to court and spoke to the judge.

“Because of the choices this person made, I have to explain to our son why his dad couldn’t be at his birthday this month,” she said.

All’s parents also spoke at the sentencing hearing.

“Robert would have done anything for anybody, and it’s left a huge hole in our family,” his mother said. “I just wish I could see my son again, but I can’t.”
