1 injured, suspect on the loose after shooting near Lake Carolina in northeast Richland

One person was injured in an early-morning shooting in northeast Richland County on Wednesday.

The shooting happened around 4:45 a.m. on the 4900 block of Hardscrabble Road, according to Deputy Cynthia Roldan of the Richland County Sheriff’s Department. That’s in northeast Richland County near Lake Carolina.

Details are limited, but the male victim was shot in the lower body, Roldan said. He was taken to Prisma Health Richland hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The shooter fled in a vehicle. Additional details about the shooter and vehicle weren’t immediately available.
