One man is dead after a shooting at a South Carolina apartment complex Saturday night, according to a tweet from the Columbia Police Department.

A suspect was arrested on multiple charges, Columbia Police Chief Skip Holbrook said Monday in a news release.

The shooting occurred after 7 p.m. at Lakeshore Village Apartments in the 7600 block of Garners Ferry Road, police said on Twitter. That’s near a Walmart Supercenter.

Police said the shooting might have been prompted by an argument between “the victim and suspect,” according to the tweet.

The man who was shot was identified as Stacy Windell Rhodes, according to a news release from Richland County Coroner Gary Watts.

The 29-year-old Hopkins resident was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead just after 10 p.m., Watts said. An autopsy determined Rhodes’ “cause of death was due to gunshot wounds to the upper body,” according to the news release.

Police said Rhodes was “an acquaintance” of Mikah Nelsum Green, the suspect in the deadly shooting, according to the police department news release.

The 22-year-old was charged with murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, police said in the news release. He was arrested early Monday morning and is being held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.

Police said the fatal shooting is “believed to be an isolated incident,” according to the tweet.

The deadly incident is being investigated by Columbia Police Department and the Richland County Coroner’s Office.
