SC college student killed in shooting. State agents are investigating
A South Carolina college student was killed and two others injured in a shooting during an event at a rental hall, according to officials.
The deadly shooting happened Friday near Coker Avenue in Denmark, about 50 miles south of Columbia, reports WJBF.
Denmark Technical College said in a Facebook post Saturday night that Jordan Parson, a freshman Associate in Science major from Homestead, Fla., was killed in the shooting.
His death and the circumstances that led to the shooting remain under investigation by the State Law Enforcement Division and the Denmark Police Department, the school said. No arrests have been made.
Parson was a member of the school’s basketball team, according to The Times & Democrat. A SLED spokesperson told the newspaper that two other people were injured in the shooting.

A University of South Carolina student died by suicide at a campus parking garage on March 25. USC Upstate student Evan Gaines died March 26 after being found with gunshot wounds at an off-campus apartment complex. USC student Samantha Josephson was found dead March 29 after being abducted from outside a bar in the Five Points area of Columbia. USC Salkehatchie baseball player Parker Neff died March 29 after collapsing during a team practice. And Furman University student Caroline Smith died early Saturday at an event on Hilton Head Island; however, few details have been released about her death.
