SUMTER COUNTY, SC Authorities in Sumter County charged a 22-year-old man after he allegedly threatened a pregnant woman and physically assaulted her.

Zachary Compson was charged Tuesday with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature, the sheriff’s department said.

According to the incident report, Compson, who was under house arrest on May 21, asked the female acquaintance, who is six months pregnant, to come to his house on east Hunter Street. The child is believed to be Compson’s, Sheriff Department spokesman Braden Bunch said.

The victim told authorities that after she arrived, she and Compson argued about another woman, he pulled her to the ground and pointed a handgun at her chest.

Emergency Medical Personnel checked the victim and declared that she and her unborn child were fine, the report said.

Compson was being held at the Sumter-Lee Detention Center.
