Former Uber driver charged in more ‘peeping tom’ incidents, Richland deputies say

A man who has been accused of peering into women’s homes and photographing them without their knowledge has been charged in two other peeping tom incidents, according to a statement from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department.

Keith Lamar Hoefer, 37, was initially arrested earlier April 1 on charges of burglary, voyeurism and peeping tom. He is now facing two more counts of voyeurism and two more counts of peeping tom for an incident that happened in 2017.

Deputies say that Hoefer — a former Uber and Lyft driver —was looking through a window at a home on the 4500 block of Bently Driver on Feb. 21, 2017, according to the statement. He was allegedly trying to record a woman who was nude.

Hoefer allegedly returned to the home two days later to record the woman again.

The former rideshare driver is also facing charges for similar incidents on three other occasions, which included a time he allegedly broke into the home of a woman and took pictures of her while she was sleeping.

Richland County investigators are still attempting to identify any more victims Hoefer may have spied on, according to the statement. Deputies ask anyone who may be a victim to call 803-576-3000.
