7-week-old baby found safe after being kidnapped by suspects in ski masks, NC cops say
The search for a baby who was kidnapped in North Carolina ended Thursday night when the infant was found safe, the Asheville Police Department said.
Seven-week-old Shaylie was “safely located in Henderson County,” police posted on Twitter shortly after 8 p.m.
Courtney Fowler, the woman who found the baby said Shaylie suffered scrapes and bruises but thinks she will be OK, according to WHNS.
She was kidnapped in a vehicle in Biltmore Park by suspects police described as a “male and female, both of a thin build wearing ski masks,” in a series of tweets. The man had red hair, and the woman black hair, according to the posts.
There was no word if the suspects were found, or if any arrests were made. Police tweeted the “incident is under further investigation.”
The 2014 Mazda CX5 law enforcement was searching for was found after 6 p.m., but the baby girl was not located for another two hours, according to police tweets.
The infant’s mother said she and her child were “kidnapped by two people wearing ski masks and driven away,” before she was able to escape and contact the Henderson County Sheriff’s Office, WHNS reported.
