Deputies have arrested a man they say robbed an adult video store in Richland County last month.

Quintine Colby Hammonds, 30, was arrested earlier this week and charged with armed robbery and kidnapping, the Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced Wednesday afternoon. Additional details, including where and how Hammonds was arrested, weren’t available.

Hammonds was wanted for robbing an adult store, Video Express, on the 2700 block of Two Notch Road on April 18, the sheriff’s department said.

The store clerk told deputies that a man came into the store, shopped around for a bit, then tried to enter the closed off counter area.

When the clerk asked the man to leave, he told her he had a gun and that he wanted her to help him get the store’s money, deputies said. The man then forced her over to the register and made her open it. He also took a blue box with cash below the register, deputies said.

K-9s arrived to track the robber and led deputies to a trash can, where they found the robber’s clothing, deputies said. The homeowners said the clothes were not theirs and allowed deputies to search their home in hopes of finding the suspect; however, it was unsuccessful.

Armed robbery and kidnapping are both felonies, and each carries up to 30 years in prison, under South Carolina law.

South Carolina law specifies how long of a prison term a person could face for armed robbery in the state of South Carolina.
