Man shot outside St. Andrews business, sheriff’s department investigating

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a shooting that occurred outside of a St. Andrews business Sunday.

A man walking out of Chop Stix Chinese Restaurant at 2639 Broad River Road was shot in the lower body sometime between 5:30 and 6 p.m., department spokesman Sgt. Kevin Lawrence said Sunday.

The victim told authorities he ducked down after hearing multiple gunshots then realized he had been shot. A friend took him to a local hospital for treatment, Lawrence said.

The man’s injuries appear to be non-life-threatening, Lawrence said.
