Suspects sought in I-277 shooting

The Sheriff’s Department is looking for the suspects in a shooting on I-277 northbound that injured a 1-year-old child.

Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott said around 7:30 p.m. May 28 on I-277 northbound in Columbia, several suspects in a gold Nissan Maxima followed a driver for several miles.

The sheriff said the driver pulled off to the shoulder to allow them to pass, but the suspects pulled up behind the car. One of the suspects fired multiple times at the car, shattering the glass and causing a non-life-threatening injury to the child inside, Lott said. The driver was not injured.
