Chester repeat shoplifter sent to prison for 8 years

A repeat shoplifter in Chester County was sentenced to eight years in prison Tuesday after a jury found him guilty of stealing from a Chester store in 2014.

Darryl Omar Dye, 46, stole from Fred's discount store in Chester, 6th Circuit Solicitor Randy Newman said.

Shoplifting is a misdemeanor unless someone has repeated convictions for the offense.

Because of his past convictions, Dye was tried on felony enhanced shoplifting and faced stiffer punishment of up to 10 years in prison.
