Courthouse evacuated after bomb threat, South Carolina cops say

A South Carolina courthouse was evacuated Thursday morning after reports of a bomb threat, the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office said.

Just after 9 a.m., the sheriff’s office said it learned of a bomb threat at the Anderson County Courthouse.

The building was evacuated and the scene around the court was secured, Sgt. JT Foster told The State.

Explosive ordnances disposal personnel searched the courthouse, sweeping for any suspicious packages or devices, the sheriff’s office said.

Nothing was found and the reports were determined to be unfounded, Foster said. The courthouse was reopened by 11 a.m.

In addition to sheriff’s deputies, the Anderson Police Department was also on the scene.
