Police look for inmate who walked off Lower Richland site. Do not approach, they say

An inmate walked away from a work crew in Lower Richland on Friday and now the search is on to find him.

Inmate Eric Ryan Dickerson, 28, walked off near Caughman Road Park at midday. Caughman Road Park is at the intersection of Caughman Road and Trotter Road off Garners Ferry Road.

Officers with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and South Carolina Department of Corrections are looking for Dickerson.

He is described as a bald white male with blue eyes. He’s about 6-foot-1-inch tall and weighs 186 pounds, a Department of Corrections spokesperson said.

Authorities are asking for anyone with information about Dickerson to call 911. People should “not approach him if they see him,” corrections department spokesperson Chrysti Shain said.

Dickerson was sent to prison in August 2018 after being guilty of breaking into a vehicle in Greenville County, according to records. He’s had no disciplinary issues while imprisoned, his record shows. He was set to be released in April 2021.

Dickerson has a long criminal record in Greenville County going back to 2008 that includes dozens of thefts and at least one assault.
