It wasn’t Santa coming through the window. Burglary suspect sought in Richland County

The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is looking for a Grinch who broke into and burglarized a Columbia home on New Year’s Day.

The man caught on video surveillance climbing through a window of a home in the 3800 block of Lochmore Drive definitely was not Santa Claus.

Security cameras photographed him taking items out of the home and passing them to an unknown person outside, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.

The home is near the junction of Leesburg Road, Garners Ferry Road and Interstate 77.

The man, shown in photos wearing a hooded sweatshirt, is facing burglary and breaking and entering charges, the sheriff’s department said.

Information on what was stolen from the home at the end of the holiday season was not available.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or report it to CrimeStoppers at 888-CRIME-SC or submit an online tip.
