Columbia raid nets nearly $50K in cash and drugs, one arrest

A man is facing charges after Columbia Police narcotics officers uncovered thousands of dollars in marijuana, pills and suspected drug money.

A tip led to the arrest of David Michael Hendrix, 51, who is charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a schedule II and possession of schedule IV controlled substances, according to a Columbia police news release. Hendrix was arrested Friday at an apartment complex in the 1800 block of Atlantic Drive.

After a lawful search the home, officers found more than $39,000 in cash; hundreds of marijuana edibles; pills including Xanax, Hydrocodone, Oxycodone and Adderall; plus about $9,000 worth of marijuana, the news release said.

Hendrix was taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
