Armed woman charged with trafficking meth, Lexington County Sheriff says
A woman was wanted for a probation violation, but when she was tracked down in Gaston, law enforcement found her in possession of drugs and a gun, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday.
Now Jennifer Marie Davis is behind bars on multiple new charges, including trafficking meth, the sheriff’s department said in a news release.
Sheriff’s deputies were working with U.S. Marshals to find the 46-year-old wanted for a federal probation violation, according to the release.
Law enforcement located her in the 200 block of Victor Road in Gaston, Sheriff Jay Koon said in the release. That’s in a rural area of Lexington County, near S.C. 6.
Davis was in possession of about 80 grams of meth, multiple pills and a glass pipe, Koon said.
She was also in possession of a handgun, according to the release.
Davis was taken to Lexington County Detention Center, where she was charged with trafficking meth, and possession of a firearm during a violent crime, jail records show.
Her bond was set at $25,000 on the combined charges, and she remains locked up, according to jail records.
Davis previously served time in jail and has a lengthy criminal history dating back to 1992, Lexington County court records show.
If convicted on the trafficking charge, Davis could face a maximum sentence of 25-30 years in prison and a $50,000 fine, according to South Carolina law. Davis would face at least five years in prison if convicted of the gun crime, according to the law in South Carolina.
