Former prison mates accused of stealing weapons from senior citizen’s home

A pair of former prison mates are back behind bars after being charged with burglary in connection with the theft of weapons from a senior citizen’s home in Orangeburg.

Tyrone Fleming, 22, of Orangeburg, and Quincy Dubose, 23, of Sumter, are accused of stealing multiple weapons from a home on Dec. 9, 2019, according to the Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff’s office, Fleming distracted the senior citizen home owner while Dubose snuck through the house and stole multiple weapons.

“This could have possibly worked except for one detail these two had overlooked, and that being the house is covered with security cameras — inside,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a news release.

Dubose was arrested and charged earlier this month with first-degree burglary, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and petit larceny. He was denied bond to be released from jail while awaiting trial.

Fleming was arrested later, charged with first-degree burglary and criminal conspiracy and, on Thursday, was also denied bond.

The accused pair are former prison mates, according to the sheriff’s office.
