A woman has died after a tree fell on her vehicle while she drove on Interstate 20 in Lexington County, according to the coroner’s office.

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher identified the woman as 49-year-old Pamela Adams Powell of Columbia.

About 11:45 a.m., Powell was driving slowly in the westbound lane of I-20 while in heavy traffic when the tree fell on her vehicle, Fisher said in a statement. She was taken to a hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.
